This song is a musical setting of a poem by the young Canadian poet Robert Ainsworth (see text here). Unfortunately there has not yet been a live performance with a singer; the mp3 here was generated by my music notation program. Whoever is interested in performing it can obtain the score from me.

Radioactive Passacaglia and Fugue

This piece is based on the hit song “Radioactive” by the group Imagine Dragons. I have used methods of the classical masters to create a new, much richer composition, including tonal and rhythmic phase transitions, double-fugal development of the main theme and refrain of the original song and a dramatic conclusion.

Summer Dance

A very short musical joke.

Out of the Fire

This piece is based on the famous hit “Into the Fire” by the group Deep Purple. I have developed the theme of the original song into a Prelude and Fugue along the lines of Johann Sebastian Bach, using inversion and augmentation. The instrumentation in this computer-generated mp3 is not optimal, I am working on getting a better sound. The piece could be performed as a piano duet (4 hands) or with a string orchestra.

Sonata Movement on a Difficult Theme

I chose a difficult chromatic theme as a challenge for experimenting with the composition of sonata movements. This is the result.
